Challenge
The wrist is not a universally optimal placement for all users. Some experience discomfort due to skin sensitivity or workplace limitations, while others—such as runners or those seeking more accurate heart rate monitoring—could benefit from alternative placements like the ankle, chest, or clipped to clothing. The lack of placement flexibility limits Apple Watch’s usability and market reach.
Objective
To develop ‘Pulse’, a peripheral attachment that allows the Apple Watch to be worn in alternative positions on the body. This product aims to enhance functionality, comfort, and accessibility, appealing to niche and underserved user groups and driving broader adoption of the Apple Watch.
Results
Alternative placements, like the ankle for runners, the chest for heart rate monitoring, or using a pocket clip, can offer By introducing ‘Pulse’, Apple can expand its user base, improve tracking accuracy for specific use cases, and reinforce its leadership in the wearable tech market.
